MURALS, MIRRORS, AND MORE
Traditional and Contemporary

Ethereal

Our murals have continued to evolve in a more subtle and refined direction, highlighting the painterliness and nuances that can’t be found in a photograph or graphic image.

This custom mural, in an elegant Lake Forest dining room, is reminiscent of the classic French panoramic murals, but with a much lighter touch and atmosphere. It completes the room without overpowering it, as a soft backdrop.

Foliage

One of our newest creations and already a favorite of designers and art lovers!

Foliage is designed to show the subtlest play of backlight between the leaves and branches painted and gilded on glass, and the charmed viewer reflected in the mirror.

We are currently producing Foliage in clear or antique mirror, with pearl, silver or gold accents.
Simes Eglomise Collection

Fresh

This painted floor, at once contemporary and classic, is located in a vintage Lake Shore Drive apartment, with a long center hallway. The owners wanted a child and pet-friendly floor, where they could run and play games without worries. The simple lattice-like design adds a sense of airiness to the space.

Floors are one of our favorite canvases, and many of our designs have now been in place for 15-20 years. A client recently commented on a classic charcoal gray and off-white kitchen floor we did 12 years ago, saying “it still looks like new and we still love it”, complimenting the design and durability even in their most high-traffic area.

Grisaille

These 2 over door vignettes were commissioned as a final touch in a historical North Shore French Normandy kitchen. They were based on existing over door panels in the formal paneled dining room, original to the house. These murals were a reflection of the owners' interest in Normandy and culinary talents.

The breakfast-themed panel leads to a charming garden room, and the wine, cheese and fruit themed panel to a traditional butler’s pantry and into the formal dining room.

Both paintings were done on canvas in our studio and installed on site. We further highlighted the boisserie with a soft color wash and a fine antique silver lining on the detail around each painting.

Reflections

Our custom antique eglomise has a fine layer of gold which shimmers through in this detail. Installed as rectangular panels in an alcove in a butler’s pantry, the designers have accented it further with the golden star burst rosette.

Chinoiserie

This striking hand painted, glazed and silver leaf back splash triptych, in a custom eglomise design, combines the client’s love of flowers and color in a contemporary and elegant way. Integrated into this outstanding kitchen design, it becomes the focal point and art piece in the room. The three panels are moveable to hide spice shelves; and when they open, they form a diptych of the same design.

Modern

A fun and modern focal wall in a teenage girl’s bedroom, that pulls you into the space with an abstract perspective and treelike motif. Although inspired by the contemporary lines of the home and the existing color scheme, the design still allows for a little whimsey and lightheartedness while using the clean lines of the furniture and rug.

When working on children’s rooms, we like to keep our designs appropriate - yet as ageless as possible - so that they integrate with the home and may endure as the child grows.

Evolving

A quick peek of a new work in progress, this detail reflects the painterly quality and simplicity of some of our latest murals.
